CCCC Constructed Amador Cruise Terminal Opens in Panama

The Amador Cruise Terminal has recently been put into service in Panama, marking a significant milestone in the region’s maritime infrastructure.

Strategically positioned on Perico Island at the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal, the Amador Cruise Terminal stands as Panama’s inaugural modern cruise port in the Pacific region. Spanning an area of 88 hectares, the terminal is capable of accommodating large cruise ships with a capacity of up to 5,000 passengers, operating under an innovative “homeport” model.

The project encompasses crucial elements such as the cruise terminal, breakwater, port land reclamation, and revetments. Onshore facilities include a state-of-the-art passenger terminal building and a designated port office area.

In December 2023, the terminal’s primary structure was completed and has since undergone rigorous trial operations.

The terminal is expected to become a vital hub for cruise ship rotation and passenger transit in Central and South America, solidifying Panama’s position as the “Hub of the Americas” and further driving the rapid growth of Panama’s hospitality, dining, tourism, and transportation industries.

China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC), a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), is responsible for the project.
