CCCC-Contracted Aiwo Port Upgrading, Renovation Project in Nauru Makes Progress

The off-site road included in the Aiwo Port upgrading and renovation project in Nauru has been put into service.

With a total length of approximately 630 meters, the two-lane road serves as the only traffic artery connecting the Nauru Aiwo Port terminal area and the off-site area, giving it a crucial role in the transportation of the country’s domestic and international trade cargo.

As an essential sub-project, operation of the off-site road is expected to enhance the connectivity between the port area and the off-site container storage areas, and their cargo handling capacities, which will contribute to local economic development.

As one of the largest infrastructure projects in Nauru, the Aiwo Port’s upgrading and renovation is expected to improve the cargo handling capacity of the port and lower shipment costs. It will also be of great significance in boosting local sustainable development and improving livelihoods.

China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC), a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), is responsible for the project.
