CREC Breaks Ground on Arusha Stadium Project in Tanzania

On April 6, a significant milestone was marked as China Railway Construction Engineering Group, a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited (CREC), initiated the construction of the Arusha Stadium project in Tanzania.

The project covers a total planned area of 14.75 hectares and upon completion, will accommodate 30,000 spectators, serving as a key venue for modern sports in Tanzania and for the 2027 Africa Cup.

The stadium’s design draws inspiration from Tanzanite and the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, integrates colors from the Tanzanian flag, and embodies an overall architectural style characterized by its simplicity and grace.

Arusha, often hailed as the nerve center of the East African Community, boasts a multitude of international and regional organizations, earning the name “Africa’s Geneva”.

The Arusha Stadium project signifies the most significant sports infrastructure development in Tanzania since the inauguration of Dar es Salaam’s Uhuru Stadium 20 years ago.

It is anticipated to serve as a vital piece of infrastructure for Tanzania’s inaugural hosting of the Africa Cup.
