According to local agricultural official briefings, large-scale summer wheat harvesting operations are in full swing across Pinggu District on the outskirts of Beijing, where intelligent agricultural machinery delivers consistent yield gains backed by integrated research and industrial collaboration frameworks.
Warm mid-summer breezes sweep over golden wheat fields stretching across Machangying Town in Pinggu, the core zone of Beijing’s Agricultural Zhongguancun innovation hub. Multiple combine harvesters operate continuously across contiguous farmland, pouring plump grain into transport vehicles in a steady stream. Beijing Jiaose Huinong Technology Development Co., a leading modern agricultural service provider rooted in the innovation cluster, orchestrates full-scale harvesting across all managed farmland, deploying digital agricultural technologies to bolster municipal food security delivery.
The demonstration plots host high-yield wheat pilot strains developed by the Wheat Research Institute under Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, pairing elite seed varieties with end-to-end mechanised workflows. Precision seed-and-fertiliser integrated planters deliver calibrated sowing, while large-scale centre pivot irrigation rigs distribute water and nutrient mixes evenly across plots. Intelligent field management systems cut water consumption by between 30 and 50 per cent, and trim labour outlays by roughly 200 yuan per mu throughout the growing cycle.

An agricultural ecological partnership conference was held in Pinggu this March, at which six institutional bodies including Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Beijing Vocational College of Agriculture and China Unicom Pinggu Branch signed formal cooperation accords. The agreements cover digital agricultural infrastructure, intelligent farming machinery and eco-friendly agricultural supplies, creating a complete industrial chain linking technical research, field pilot trials, real-world deployment and commercial scaling. Managed and self-operated farmland under the enterprise now spans six towns across Pinggu, including Machangying, Yukou and Daxingzhuang. Large-scale unified operation and standardised field services translate agricultural technology breakthroughs from the Agricultural Zhongguancun research base directly into tangible harvest improvements on the ground.
Ongoing upgrades to the socialised agricultural service framework will form the core of the enterprise’s operational roadmap. Cross-sector collaborative research involving government bodies, research institutes, vocational colleges and commercial operators will deepen, with wider rollout of high-efficiency crop cultivation techniques scheduled across the district. Expanded adoption of smart farming solutions will sustain stable grain output growth across Beijing’s rural zones and advance the broader modernisation of agricultural and rural sectors.
