Spring Ploughing in Full Swing in Heilongjiang, Fueled by Technology and Expert Support
As spring embraces the fertile black soil, Heilongjiang Province is immersed in a bustling spring ploughing season. In Yanjiang Town on the outskirts of Jiamusi City, the hum of agricultural machinery fills the air, with tractors shuttling precisely across fields guided by Beidou navigation. Straight furrows stretch like musical staves on the black land, dotted with farmers busy at work, painting a vivid picture of spring cultivation.
People’s Daily reports that Heilongjiang, known as China’s "granary", plays a pivotal role in ensuring national food security. This year, the province has accelerated the integration of technology into agricultural production, with smart machinery and professional guidance driving efficient and high-quality spring ploughing.
At the Chaoyue Modern Corn Planting Farmers’ Professional Cooperative in Longjiang County, Qiqihar City, seeding machines roared into the fields, marking the full start of spring ploughing. "This year’s first plough started a week earlier than last year. We dispatch 9 seeding machines daily, covering nearly 1,000 mu per day, and expect to finish all field seeding in about 10 days, 10 days ahead of schedule," said Li Qiumei, general manager of the cooperative. The cooperative independently cultivates 9,300 mu of land and fully manages 164,000 mu.

Wang Changhai, director of the Planting Department of Qiqihar Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, noted that efforts will be made to promote new agricultural technologies, varieties and models, integrating water-saving, precision fertilization and green cultivation techniques to improve grain per unit yield and ensure a bumper harvest.
At the Heilongjiang 291 Farm under Beidahuang Group, intelligent seedling raising lines operate efficiently in the factory-based seedling base, while Beidou navigation-upgraded transplanters stand ready. "The upgraded transplanters can automatically operate, avoid obstacles and turn around after setting parameters, with an operation error of only 2.5 centimeters," introduced Wang Zhen, an agricultural machinery technician. The farm has formed an integrated model of "factory-based seedling raising + intelligent transplanting", easing labor costs and time pressure.
China News Service points out that Beidou navigation technology has been widely applied in Heilongjiang’s spring ploughing, covering seeding, transplanting and field management, and improving production efficiency by more than 30%. To address practical needs, Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences launched the "Experts on the Fields" campaign, sending technicians to provide on-site guidance.
In Suiling County’s Sanchang Cooperative, Researcher Wang Yanping, director of the Soybean Research Institute of Mudanjiang Branch of the Academy, offered targeted advice to solve low soybean yield issues. "Soil quality, variety selection and supporting technologies are the key factors affecting yield," Wang said, suggesting soil testing, high-quality varieties suitable for the third accumulated temperature zone and scientific planting methods.
Since March, 13 expert teams from the academy have provided on-site services to agricultural entities and farmers, bridging the "last mile" for technological popularization. With technology empowerment and expert support, Heilongjiang’s spring ploughing is advancing steadily, laying a solid foundation for a bumper grain harvest and safeguarding national food security.
