Turpan’s Fresh Grapes Shine, Sweet Industry Drives Rural Prosperity

On the fiery land at the southern foot of the Tianshan Mountains, clusters of crystal-clear fresh grapes carry local farmers’ hopes for prosperity and form a high-quality industrial chain from the fields to the dining table. In 2025, the sales volume of fresh grapes in Turpan, Xinjiang, exceeded 500,000 tons, an increase of 3.48% over the previous year, with both core indicators hitting a record high. Behind this impressive achievement lies Turpan’s precise measures in implementing the "Sweet Grape Valley" action plan, its vivid practice in building a modern industrial system and expanding the characteristic and advantageous grape agricultural industrial cluster, as well as its solid efforts in promoting the transformation of the "sweet industry" from scale expansion to quality and efficiency improvement, accelerating the construction of a strong oasis ecological agriculture city.

"In the past, we sold grapes by shouting; now the government helps us find markets and set standards, making us feel more at ease." Such feelings reflect the common aspirations of Turpan’s grape farmers. As one of the top grape-producing areas in the country, Turpan relies on its unique light and heat resources, taking the fresh grape industry as a pillar for rural revitalization and a core focus for building a strong oasis ecological agriculture city, and has built a development pattern of "high-level promotion, departmental linkage and production-marketing coordination".

Policy guidance is the core guarantee for industrial development. Relevant local authorities have included expanding the "sweet cause" into the key agenda, successively issuing a series of policy documents to clarify the direction and path of industrial development, guiding industrial upgrading through the "six modernizations" path of standardization, organization, branding, digitalization, ecologicalization and civilization. Guided by municipal policies, key producing areas have made joint efforts, establishing a responsibility system to decompose sales tasks to villages and individuals, forming a cohesive work force.

Precise production-marketing connection has solved the difficulty of selling. Turpan has broken the limitations of traditional sales models, building a diversified production-marketing network of "offline promotion + order agriculture + counterpart support cooperation". In 2025, it successfully held a grape brand promotion and product recommendation conference, attracting more than 240 industry experts and channel merchants from across the country with multiple cooperation agreements signed on site. It also organized enterprises to participate in major events to promote Turpan grapes nationwide. Relying on the counterpart support mechanism, stable cooperation has been established with trade unions and large enterprises in Hunan Province, realizing "order-based planting, standardized circulation and precise distribution".

Regulating market order ensures the rights and interests of all parties. Special guidance groups have been set up to promote the model of "unified crating, on-site weighing and open pricing" at sales points, equipped with verified electronic scales to eliminate irregularities. Consumer rights protection points have been set up to resolve transaction disputes in a timely manner, and 118 high-quality purchasing service stations have been built to provide convenient services, creating a fair and orderly market environment.

E-commerce empowerment has broadened sales channels and activated new engines for market circulation. E-commerce live streaming has become an important channel for fresh grape sales, embodying Turpan’s efforts in implementing the "Digital Turpan" action plan. Taking the 2025 Consumption Promotion Year as an opportunity, Turpan has focused on cultivating local live streaming teams, creating cooperation models of "anchor + base" and "e-commerce + cooperative". A number of local anchors have emerged, with one enterprise’s six anchors boasting a total of over 4.5 million followers, achieving a maximum daily sales volume of over 10,000 orders and an annual sales volume exceeding 23 million yuan.

Logistics supporting systems have also been continuously improved, reducing the circulation loss rate to below 8%. Key producing areas have built 121 cold storage warehouses with a single pre-cooling capacity of 7,420 tons, and opened "e-commerce special lines" with logistics enterprises to complete "picking-packaging-shipping" within 24 hours. Local enterprises have also produced environment-friendly packaging baskets of different specifications to meet standardized distribution needs.

Online-offline integration has expanded market coverage. Turpan has opened official flagship stores on major platforms, with the topic "Turpan Grapes Are Ripe" receiving over 50 million views on Douyin. Offline, it has signed direct supply agreements with large supermarkets and fresh food chains to reduce intermediate links, realizing complementary advantages between online and offline channels.

Quality improvement and brand building have consolidated the core competitiveness of the industry. Turpan has always regarded quality as the lifeline of industrial development, strictly controlling every link from planting to harvesting. It has implemented a harvesting certificate management system to prevent immature fruits from entering the market, and guided farmers to harvest and sell in grades. A special supervision team has been set up to ensure quality standards, with the commodity rate of fruits increased to 92%. With unremitting efforts, Turpan’s grape industry is moving towards high-quality development, bringing more prosperity to local farmers.
