Spring Farming in Full Swing: Dongxiang's Protected Agriculture Embarks on a New Journey

As spring warms up and temperatures rise steadily, the Plateau Summer Vegetable Demonstration Base for Protected Agriculture in Wujia Township, Dongxiang County, Gansu Province, enters a critical period for vegetable transplanting. Seedling greenhouses are lush with vitality, and planting areas bustle with work, unfolding a vibrant picture of spring farming.

Inside the seedling greenhouses, various vegetable seedlings thrive, full of spring vitality. In the red asparagus planting area, local farmers seize the fine weather to skillfully carry out seedling lifting, transportation, transplanting and soil covering. Land leveling and plastic film mulching proceed simultaneously, with busy figures everywhere working towards a bumper harvest.

At present, the double-layer quilted four-season greenhouses in the base have been fully transplanted. Another 20-odd greenhouses will be used for celery seedling transplanting, and 50 mu of single-layer warm greenhouses are concentrating on red asparagus seedling transplanting. The 200 mu of celery seedlings are expected to be transplanted by mid-April. After the seedbeds are vacated, pepper and cherry tomato seedlings will be cultivated simultaneously – 150,000 pepper seedlings and 300,000 cherry tomato seedlings – to be transplanted from late June to early July, laying a solid foundation for the stable and high yield of plateau summer vegetables throughout the year.
