According to Xinhua News Agency reports, the 2026 Xinjiang Yili Tianma Cultural Tourism Festival officially opened on 20 June in Zhaosu County, widely known as China’s Hometown of Heavenly Horses. Held amid lush summer landscapes across the vast grasslands of Zhaosu, the grand opening ceremony features immersive cultural performances and iconic equestrian displays that showcase the region’s distinctive natural and cultural heritage.

The opening programme includes a poetic and dance theatrical performance titled Ballad of Princess Xijun, which interprets centuries-old local historical and cultural stories through refined stage art.
