Huairou District Prepares Splendid Cultural and Tourism Feast for May Day Holiday
As the May Day holiday approaches, Huairou District of Beijing has prepared a rich cultural and tourism feast. Centering on the theme of "Beijing’s Northernmost, Huairou’s Most Beautiful", the district has deeply integrated its natural landscape, Great Wall resources, rural scenery and Guochao culture, carefully planned nearly 20 characteristic cultural and tourism activities, and innovatively launched 3 high-quality themed routes. It aims to provide citizens and tourists with a comprehensive holiday experience integrating natural scenery, historical culture, artistic creativity and parent-child fun, and enhance the brand influence of "Beijing’s Northernmost, Huairou’s Most Beautiful".
A diverse matrix of activities will bring wonderful experiences day and night. From May 1 to 3, Boshi Farm in Beifang Town will be transformed into a vibrant rural stage. The Rural Music Party Market themed "Beifang Fanghua, Green Wheat Song" will set up five functional areas, including a main music performance stage, a technology empowerment experience area, an ideal life market area, an immersive interaction area and a characteristic photo check-in area. The event will gather university bands to perform live, bringing the enthusiasm of Livehouse into the lush wheat fields, and also set up an interesting smart agriculture exhibition area for tourists to experience the integration of technology and agriculture.
From April 30 to May 4, Mutianyu Great Wall Scenic Area will launch an all-day "day and night" operation mode. Starting from May 1, the daytime "Guochao into Painting" themed activities will be held in the service area, including Guochao dance flash mobs, acrobatic interactions and intangible cultural heritage markets. The grand "city opening ceremony" combines armor drumming and robot reception, creating a unique spark between tradition and modernity. When night falls, the "Night Great Wall" lit up by light and shadow will reopen. Beijing Daily reported that the night tour experience will operate as usual until 21:00, though the night performance on May 2 was canceled due to weather.
From May 1 to 2, the 2026 Huairou Guochao Cultural Season will kick off at Sunrise Kempinski Hotel and the surrounding lawns. With "Oriental Aesthetics Meets International Trends" as its core, the event will feature a Hanfu show, cultural tourism experience officers from multiple countries along the "Belt and Road", and a "Time Concert" featuring classic melodies. Nearly 60 characteristic stalls will gather time-honored brands such as Donglaishun and Quanjude, as well as local snacks from all over the country.
To meet the needs of different tourists, Huairou District has planned three high-quality themed routes. The Yanqi Landscape·Guochao Leisure Vacation Route focuses on natural scenery and Guochao culture, connecting Qinglong Gorge, Yanqi Lake and Shentangyu Waterfront Greenway. The Great Wall Flower Sea·Art Rural Immersion Route links Mutianyu and Xiangshui Lake Great Wall scenic areas, as well as the art rural community in Bohai Town. The Rural Evening Breeze·Country Music Parent-Child Vacation Route, designed for families, integrates industrial research, smart farms and parent-child manors.
