Wuxing Village in Zhengding: Cherry Blossoms and Folk Culture Drive Rural Tourism Boom

"My child loves the small animals here, and our family often comes to the village for weekends," said a visitor. Nowadays, Wuxing Village in Zhengding County, Hebei Province, is adorned with green trees and blooming cherry blossoms, attracting crowds of tourists to its snack streets, department stores, folk custom parks and cherry forests. Daily visitors from Shijiazhuang urban area and surrounding villages reach 50,000 to 60,000, peaking at 100,000 on weekends.

Adjacent to Shijiazhuang urban area, Wuxing Village is the second most populous village in Zhengding County, with 8,130 residents and 5,600 mu of forest land. Over the years, relying on its location advantage, forest resources and folk culture, the village has adhered to the "suburban economy" development concept, striving to build a "beautiful pastoral and leisure tourism destination serving urban residents" and continuously promoting the development of "comprehensive tourism".

Since 2018, the village has built the 5,600-mu "Ancient City Cherry Blossom Town" agricultural leisure rural tourism project, which includes cherry viewing forests, unpowered field parent-child parks, rural zoos, farming culture experience parks, "Belt and Road" track trains, farm stations, container rural markets, cherry derivatives and folk culture industries. It has become a well-known cultural and tourism village featuring "cherry blossom forests + flower viewing and picking + farming culture + pastoral amusement + train sightseeing".

At the "Field Park" parent-child activity base, more than 40 types of unpowered children’s amusement facilities and a variety of research course systems have been built. Utilizing the under-forest space of ecological forests, a "cute pet zoo" has been established, introducing a variety of lovely small animals. It allows children to get close to and feed the cute pets, gain knowledge through interactive experience, and cultivate their love and sense of responsibility.

On April 19, the third day of the third lunar month, folk performances such as Zhengding War Drum, intangible cultural heritage Lagenglou (a traditional farming tool operation) and dragon dance were held on "Ziwubei Street" in the village. Farmers Daily reported that the village received more than 6 million tourists in 2025, and more than 1,000 villagers have secured jobs in the cultural and tourism industry.

Wuxing Village has won many honors, including National Civilized Village, National Model Village for Rural Governance, China Beautiful Leisure Village, Hebei Beautiful Leisure Village and Hebei Key Rural Tourism Village. According to the Hebei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, rural tourism in Zhengding County has developed rapidly in recent years, with Wuxing Village taking the lead in exploring a path of integrating agriculture and cultural tourism, setting a good example for rural revitalization.
