Beijing Garden Expo Launches Peach Tree Adoption Program, Combining Ecology and Cultural Tourism

As spring arrives once again and peach blossoms in the Peach Blossom Valley of Beijing Garden Expo are about to bloom, it was learned yesterday that the garden, in conjunction with its renovation and upgrading, has launched the "Green Future · Peach Tree Adoption" program, with more than 2,000 peach trees waiting for adoption by citizens and tourists.

In recent years, the 300-mu Peach Blossom Valley on Eagle Mountain in Beijing Garden Expo has become a popular gathering place for photographers. In early spring, clusters of peach blossoms spread along the hillside, with trains passing through the flower sea, creating a unique charm.

As an important part of Beijing’s "Two Gardens and One River" integrated development, the garden is being upgraded this year. Taking the construction of "Two Gardens and One River" as the key focus, Fengtai District coordinates ecological restoration and cultural tourism integration, planning to build the garden into a development corridor with both ecological value and cultural connotation. According to the renovation plan, the planting area of peach trees in and around Eagle Mountain Peach Blossom Valley will be expanded, with the total number of planted trees expected to exceed 2,000.

Ahead of Arbor Day, the garden has launched the "Green Future · Peach Tree Adoption" program, inviting citizens and tourists to adopt an exclusive peach tree. It is understood that tree adoption is one of the eight forms of fulfilling obligatory tree-planting duties, a voluntary public welfare activity whose fees are mainly used for seedling purchase and transportation, later maintenance and management service costs.

The adoption period of the peach trees is one year from the planting date, with a cost of 298 yuan per tree. For more details, the public can follow the WeChat official account "Beijing Garden Expo Witnessing Splendor".

Relevant person in charge of the garden’s greening work stated that after adoption, citizens and tourists will have the naming right of the adopted peach tree and a creative tree plate will be set up. Tree adoption is not a one-time event; adopters can also participate in maintenance activities such as watering, insect control and pruning throughout the year in accordance with greening maintenance standards.

The registration for peach tree adoption starts today and ends on March 15. A centralized planting activity for individual adopters is scheduled to be held on March 21. This program not only enriches citizens’ ways of fulfilling their obligatory tree-planting duties but also promotes the integration of ecological protection and cultural tourism, adding more vitality to the garden’s renovation and upgrading.
