The 19th Beijing Ming City Wall Plum Blossom Festival Kicks Off, Embracing Spring with Beauty and Fun

The 19th Beijing Ming City Wall Plum Blossom Festival opened as scheduled yesterday, offering a month-long celebration themed "Spring Begins at Ming City · Embrace the Plum Beauty". Citizens and tourists can enjoy the fragrance and charm of plum blossoms at the foot of the ancient city wall, as well as shop, dine and participate in interactive activities such as handicrafts and blessing collection at various markets.

At 11 am, the area around the Ming City Wall was bustling with crowds and laughter. Bathed in bright spring sunshine, stretches of plum blossoms were either in bud or in full bloom. Visitors sniffed the fragrance of the petals and took photos with the flowers. The park was decorated with numerous inflatable plum blossoms and flower waterfall installations, which became popular spots for tourists to take photos.

At the foot of the city wall on the east side of the park, the "Cheng Yi Mei Hao Market" gathered many brands under Shou旅 Group, with a constant flow of visitors at each stall. Mutton skewers, grilled squid and seasonal drinks at the Donglaishun stall were popular items, while red panda and capybara dolls at the Beijing Wildlife Park’s cultural and creative stall were in high demand. Many tourists stopped to shop at stalls run by Wangfujing, Beijing International Hotel, Changfugong Hotel and other brands before climbing the city wall to overlook the spring scenery of the capital.

The "Plum Beauty Handicraft Market" was equally lively, featuring shops offering traditional incense making, flower arrangement experiences, special drinks, rubbing experiences and photography spots. The "Zhan Qian Hao Wu Market" brought together dozens of characteristic Beijing merchants, including Yueshengzhai, Shengxing Building and Shougang Flavour. While selecting their favourite products, tourists could also get petals to participate in the blessing collection activity.

It is understood that after purchasing the "Plum Blossom Token" experience package, tourists can start their journey to collect five blessing petals representing fortune, prosperity, longevity, joy and wealth. Those who collect all five petals and paste them on a circular card to form a complete plum blossom can exchange them for limited-edition gifts at the city wall landscape installation.

The plum blossom festival will last until 6 April. On weekends during the event, non-player characters (NPCs) dressed in traditional costumes will parade along the city wall with plum blossom props, interact with tourists and randomly distribute blessing petals. This spring event combines the elegance of plum blossoms with the vibrancy of market culture, providing citizens and tourists with a wonderful platform to enjoy spring and experience traditional culture.
