Shanghai Songjiang’s Satellite Internet Cluster Booms, Forging a Dynamic "Space Track"

Busy figures fill the satellite assembly workshop, and digital factories operate in an orderly manner... In Songjiang District, Shanghai, an industrial cluster led by satellite internet is showing vigorous vitality and momentum. According to Economic Daily, as of April 13, the district has built a sound industrial ecosystem covering the entire satellite industry chain, becoming a key hub for China’s commercial aerospace development.

At the R&D center of Shanghai Xuntian Qianhe Space Technology Co., Ltd. in Jiuting Town, Songjiang District, a low-orbit remote sensing satellite is gradually taking shape in the hands of technicians. Founded in 2024, this young enterprise has shown strong momentum from the start. "After the completion of our computing power satellite and remote sensing satellite R&D and test headquarters base, it will have the capacity to produce 100 satellites ranging from 50 kg to 2,000 kg per year," said Jiang Wei, deputy general manager of the company.

Xuntian Qianhe’s smooth start is attributed to Songjiang’s complete commercial aerospace industrial ecosystem and efficient enterprise "circle of friends". In the past, purchasing satellite components required traveling to various places; now, in Songjiang, it can connect with many upstream supporting enterprises. The power supply system comes from Fuxi Xinkong, the thermal control system is provided by Shengui Bianhuan, and the structural materials are from Hongyue Composite, forming a seamless industrial collaboration chain.

Li Weijie, deputy director of the Economic Development Office of Jiuting Town, Songjiang District, showed a distribution map of enterprises in Songjiang Satellite Base. Dense commercial satellite manufacturing and terminal application enterprises are distributed here. According to China Economic Net, nearly 100 enterprises have settled in the G60 Satellite Internet Industrial Base in Jiuting Town alone, forming an ecological system covering satellite manufacturing, operation, communication payloads, attitude and orbit control and other links of the entire industrial chain.

Wang Huajie, Secretary of the CPC Songjiang District Committee, stated that Songjiang’s current satellite internet industry scale has reached 23 billion yuan, with a solid industrial foundation, and it is accelerating the construction of a national-level characteristic industrial cluster. "We will focus on the aerospace power strategy, fully promote the transformation and application of cutting-edge technologies, and build a commercial aerospace ‘space track’," he added.

The booming development of Songjiang’s satellite internet industry not only drives the agglomeration of related supporting industries, but also injects strong impetus into regional high-quality development. With the continuous improvement of the industrial chain and ecological system, Songjiang is gradually becoming a core highland for China’s commercial aerospace innovation and development, contributing to the country’s aerospace industry progress.
