China Unveils Advanced AGI System at 2026 Zhongguancun Forum
BEIJING, March 29 — The General Artificial Intelligence Forum of the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum kicked off in Beijing on Wednesday, where Tongtong 3.0, China’s first general intelligent humanoid system, made its official debut, according to China National Radio.
Unlike traditional large models that are prone to hallucinations and logical contradictions, Tongtong 3.0 demonstrated consistent values and a coherent worldview during multi-turn conversations. Its decision-making process is interpretable and traceable, achieving "consistency between words and deeds" at the source.
Zhu Songchun, Director of the Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence (BIGAI), as well as Dean of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and the School of Intelligence at Peking University, noted that Tongtong is driven by a "causality-value" core. It has realized a high degree of integration of individual intelligence in perception, decision-making and interaction, and is gradually evolving from individual intelligence to social intelligence, or social simulation.

Compared with its 2.0 version, Tongtong 3.0 has achieved leapfrog upgrades in three key dimensions: spatial intelligence, cognitive intelligence and social intelligence. It can distinguish between 3D virtual embodied spaces and 2D real video streams to achieve accurate perception of the physical world, possesses the ability of independent planning for complex tasks and parallel task management, and can enter the "AI Town" where multiple agents coexist to conduct anthropomorphic interactions, realizing autonomous evolution of social learning and social intelligence.
To support the growth and evolution of Tongtong 3.0, BIGAI has simultaneously built the "AI Town", a 3D simulated virtual world featuring full scenarios, multiple tasks and high fidelity. Equipped with hundreds of finely modeled indoor scenes and a complete urban-level outdoor environment, the platform provides an almost real "training ground" for Tongtong.
Also released at the forum, Tongnao — a core engine for embodied intelligence and robots developed by BIGAI — was selected as a major achievement of the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum. Aimed at bridging the two-way channel between general intelligent agents and physical robots, Tongnao promotes embodied robots from "remote control demonstration" to a "general stage" with independent decision-making, continuous learning and cross-scenario generalization capabilities through the technical path of "data-brain-cerebellum-body" coordinated development.
Tongnao transfers the core technological advantages of Tongtong to various types of robots. By building a unified cognitive architecture and a general data collection and simulation training platform, it endows robots with the ability of continuous learning, scene understanding and complex interaction, enabling them to form a complete closed loop of "thinking-acting-relearning" and possess the generalization ability to enter thousands of households. Currently, Tongnao has been applied in multiple scenarios such as humanoid robot competitions, industrial applications and wide-area space governance.
To promote the integration of artificial intelligence into practical scenarios, BIGAI released its latest industry application platforms. Among them, the Tongyu AI Education Platform has been applied in more than 40 primary and secondary schools across the country, and the Industry Agent Workshop 2.0 framework has empowered key fields including finance, education, energy and transportation. For ecological co-construction, BIGAI, together with China Tower, Kunlun Digital Intelligence, China Civil Aviation Information Group and Zhongguancun Science City Urban Brain, jointly initiated the establishment of the "Tongzhi Industry Brain" Alliance, which is committed to building high-trust, interpretable and evolvable industry agents.
