Hubei Cereals and Oils Group builds integrated supply chains to support rural revitalisation

According to Hubei Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, released on 19 October 2026, Hubei Cereals and Oils Group, a subsidiary of Hubei Agricultural Development Group, develops a modern cereals and oils industrial system covering grain sourcing, base development, deep processing, brand operation and marketing.

The group consolidates rice industry resources and establishes Jianghan Rice Group to develop the regional public brand Jianghan Rice. Its Modern Agriculture Group develops a closed-loop green production chain for rice. Rice bran is further processed into rice bran oil and oryzanol raw materials. The operator, a national key agricultural industrialisation leading enterprise, processes 300,000 tonnes of rice bran each year, with an annual refining capacity of 100,000 tonnes. It produces 80,000 tonnes of packaged edible oil and 200,000 tonnes of rice annually, holding 50,000 tonnes of oil storage capacity and 500,000 tonnes of grain storage capacity.

The group links grain sources across regions. Its grain subsidiary operates storage facilities in major maize-producing areas in north-east China. Since the start of 2026, the base has purchased nearly 280,000 tonnes of grain, dried close to 150,000 tonnes and delivered almost 100,000 tonnes out of store. It conducts grain trading via the Wuhan National Grain Trading Centre under a model combining origin sourcing, regional warehousing and market-based transactions

The group carries out upgrades to grain processing, drying and green storage facilities. Its operating revenue reached 32.5 billion yuan in 2025, and two additional subsidiaries obtained national high-tech enterprise status. Technical outcomes for camellia seed oil and rice bran deep processing have reached internationally advanced standards. Hongsen Rice Industry completes digital transformation of rice processing lines in partnership with Wuhan Polytechnic University. The renovated lines raise the whole rice yield by between 5 and 8 per cent and cut unit energy consumption by roughly 15 per cent. In Anlu, Nongfa Yuanyuan Company runs a smart plant built with investment exceeding 200 million yuan. Seven fully automatic rice noodle production lines can turn out 350 million blocks of noodle cakes each year. Its intelligent closed drying system reduces labour input at drying stages by 70 per cent and cuts raw material loss by four percentage points. The firm holds more than forty patents and is registered as a national technology-based small and medium-sized enterprise.

The group applies benefit-linkage mechanisms that connect enterprises, production bases, cooperatives and farming households. Sales of Jianghan Rice hit a new high in 2025, with contracted planting in core growing zones lifting returns for grain farmers. Its crayfish subsidiary runs 100,000 mu of self-built breeding bases, connects 25,000 farming households and covers 1.5 million mu of breeding land across the province. Cumulative income growth for participating farmers has reached 1.5 billion yuan. Nongfa Yuanyuan’s contracted planting covers more than 80,000 mu of surrounding rice fields, delivers steady income rises for thousands of growers and provides 300 local jobs.
