Four Major Bookstores in Beijing Roll Out National‑Day‑themed Cultural Events
According to People’s Network Beijing, four flagship book outlets run by Beijing Distribution Group have jointly launched a series of cultural activities under the theme “Full Moon and Book Fragrance, Home and Nation in Celebration”, ahead of the National Day holiday. Adopting an innovative “books‑plus‑space‑plus‑digital‑intelligence” model, the venues deliver a city‑wide cultural feast with unified festive styling, site‑specific themed installations and varied interactive programmes, balancing cultural depth, modern appeal and consumer‑friendly benefits.
Each store has developed tailored scenarios to cater for distinct visitor groups. Beijing Book Building makes full use of its large‑scale exhibition space to host a comprehensive National‑Day‑themed exhibition integrating traditional culture, red‑themed content and scientific‑technology displays for one‑stop reading and shopping experiences. Wangfujing Bookstore targets family visitors and out‑of‑town tourists drawn by the busy cultural‑tourism district, arranging curated exhibitions, intangible‑cultural‑heritage handicraft sessions and pop‑up performances. It will open its doors one hour earlier on 1 October to serve visitors after flag‑raising ceremonies at Tiananmen Square. Zhongguancun Book Centre puts on a “Strong Nation Through Science and Technology” book exhibition and special reading lists featuring scientists, creating a learning‑focused destination for young people. Yayuncun Bookstore builds child‑friendly National‑Day picture‑book zones within its Rainbow Bridge Reading Lounge to support early‑years reading development.

Beijing Book Building hosts two cross‑border pop‑up events throughout the holiday window. Between 25 September and 7 October, it partners with China Post for “Landscapes Captured in Stamps”, showcasing red‑culture and Long‑March‑themed stamp products alongside custom‑made National‑Day commemorative postmark services for on‑site posting. Starting from 1 October, a “Book Wisdom Meets AI” pop‑up jointly delivered with technology brands opens five interactive zones covering smart companionship, smart‑living displays, tech toys, parent‑child science workshops and photo‑taking spots. Both free demonstrations and paid specialist classes are on offer to suit visitors of all age brackets.
Wangfujing Bookstore runs further in‑house holiday programmes. Its “China Within Books” parent‑child exhibition presents hands‑on sessions of Chinese knot‑making, seal‑carving and cloth‑sculpture crafts, complemented by red‑classic recitals and picture‑book reading. Parent‑child combined tickets are available to form a closed‑loop experience covering hands‑on creation, reading and consumption. A children’s patriotic painting and calligraphy exhibition entitled “Young Hearts Paint the Motherland, Opening a New Chapter with Writing” also takes place, incorporating traditional Chinese writing ceremonies, work displays, Chinese‑character lectures and reading promotion activities.
Consumer‑focused incentives run across all four locations. Visitors can obtain book discount coupons by collecting five themed stamps or sharing holiday‑themed content on social‑media platforms. Member privileges are also enhanced. From 28 September to 7 October, both new and existing members qualify for a 15‑yuan rebate against purchases exceeding 158 yuan, bringing tangible savings for readers.
