Accelerated Expressway Works Expand Road Network across Anhui Province

According to Xinhua News Agency, Anhui Transportation Holding Group has seized favourable construction windows throughout the current year to push forward a portfolio of new‑build, expansion and reconstruction motorway schemes. These ongoing engineering works steadily thicken and enlarge the provincial expressway network.

Final finishing‑up activities are underway for projects scheduled to open within the calendar year. The Ningguo‑Jingde section of the Anji‑Jingde Expressway, which stretches some 32 kilometres, has passed formal hand‑over acceptance. Serving as a vital artery linking the Yangtze River Delta directly towards Huangshan Scenic Area, this motorway connects the Lining and Chaohuang expressway routes. 

Once opened to traffic, the road journey between Ningguo and Jingde will be shortened to merely twenty‑five minutes, helping to shape a one‑hour tourist transport loop for surrounding scenic spots.

Multiple new‑build highway sites maintain vigorous construction progress. The Chizhou segment of the Ningguo‑Zongyang Expressway has registered accumulated investment totalling 2.3 billion yuan. This stretch links up with the under‑construction Chizhou combined road‑and‑rail Yangtze River Bridge, strengthening Chizhou’s integration into the Hefei metropolitan area and the broader Yangtze River Delta. 

The Anhui section of the Dongzhi‑Poyang Expressway has drawn 2 billion yuan in cumulative investment. Forming one of the key inter‑provincial corridors between Anhui and Jiangxi, it remedies existing weaknesses within the southern Anhui road network. For the Bozhou‑Dancheng Expressway’s Bozhou section, completed investment stands at 900 million yuan. 

Interconnecting with the G35 Jiguang and Bomeng motorways, this route delivers improved transport support for industrial relocation in northern Anhui and deep‑co‑operation between Anhui and Henan provinces.

Major reconstruction and widening works proceed amid intensive on‑site operations. The northern Hefei‑Xuzhou stretch along the Beijing‑Taipei Expressway covers roughly 23 kilometres with cumulative investment reaching 1.1 billion yuan. Its completion will upgrade traffic capacity for the vital north‑south transport artery running across northern Anhui. 

Several working faces operate simultaneously on the 110‑kilometre‑long widened Gaojie segment of the Shanghai‑Chongqing Expressway, where teams carry out bridge piling, small‑scale structural works and earth‑moving tasks. 

This upgraded corridor will reinforce Anhui’s transport links towards Jiangsu, Zhejiang and central‑western China. Reconstruction for the Tongchengnan‑Liangting section of the Hefei‑Anqing Expressway extends for 34 kilometres, having secured 1.3 billion yuan of total investment so far, and it will raise the overall carrying capacity of the Hefei‑Anqing transport corridor.

Further civil engineering activities will keep advancing on these highway schemes. Continued progress on new routes and widened carriageways builds out a more robust, interconnected provincial road network for passenger travel and freight movement across Anhui in the period ahead.
