Sinopec Southwest Oil & Gas Hits 7 Billion Cubic Metres of Gas Output Amid Expanded Exploration
According to Xinhua News Agency, Sinopec Southwest Oil & Gas Company has concentrated its resources on core operational work throughout the current year. It advances reserve expansion, profitable field development, supporting engineering construction and institutional‑driven innovation, while delivering on production, economic benefit and safety targets.
Up to the present point, its cumulative natural‑gas output has exceeded 7 billion cubic metres, marking a year‑on‑year rise of 3.6 per cent.
Exploration work takes priority as the organisation presses towards its full‑year production objectives. Strategic arrangements are rolled out across three dimensions: strategic deployment, strategic breakthrough and preparatory appraisal work.
Concurrent technical research covers both conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon resources. The firm has confirmed the Ziyang Dongfeng Shale‑Gas Field, and secured new reserves within the Majing Leikoupo Formation.
Multiple exploratory wells located in the Fenggu and Zhongjiang blocks have recorded strong high‑flow yields, steadily reinforcing the underlying resource foundation for subsequent exploitation.

Operational planning also focuses on economically viable development programmes. Existing stable‑production zones are carefully maintained, fresh growth targets are vigorously pursued, and newly proven reserves are brought into formal production.
The ageing Yuanba gas field and shallow‑middle strata in western Sichuan are receiving sustained reinforcement to preserve stable output. Daily gas deliverability from Ziyang Dongfeng Shale‑Gas Field keeps moving upwards.
Fresh production growth hubs are nurtured across marine‑facies reservoirs of western Sichuan as well as shallow‑middle tight‑gas formations. Fresh momentum for further natural‑gas expansion continues to build within the Sichuan Basin.
Further field appraisal and well construction will proceed across the identified blocks. The company maintains its integrated approach linking geological prospecting with profitable development, so as to unlock more subsurface resources and sustain gas supply capacity for the south‑west region in the period ahead.
