First Cross-grid High-voltage Power Service Links Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Greater Bay Area

State Grid Beijing Haidian Power Supply Company and China Southern Power Grid Shenzhen Baoan Power Supply Bureau have jointly delivered a cross-grid, cross-region power application service, enabling businesses to complete the whole procedure without travelling between locations. It marks the first high-voltage power connection case spanning separate power networks across the two world-class urban agglomerations of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Earlier this summer, a technology enterprise based in Beijing required two new 2,000 kVA transformers for its project in Shenzhen. Representatives from the firm submitted their power connection application at the service hall of Haidian Power Supply Company. Once the application was accepted, the local account team immediately opened communications with Shenzhen Baoan Power Supply Bureau.

Staff on both sides shared project documents and power consumption requirements in real time via digital channels. Using a dedicated cross-grid service pipeline, the teams carried out document verification, on-site surveys, scheme formulation, power access arrangement and project acceptance in tandem. The two transformers located in Shenzhen were energised on 1 September.

According to Chinese media reports, State Grid and China Southern Power Grid are piloting this cross-region power service covering the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The scheme has refined workflows for in-person window intake and cross-operator case handover, rolling out a dedicated service model where applications are accepted locally, coordinated across power networks and completed remotely.

The service framework will remain available for major infrastructure schemes, commercial clients and residential power users across both regions. Digital coordination channels will continue to streamline cross-network power applications for enterprises expanding their operations across these two economic hubs.
