Construction Begins on Suining-Neijiang Stretch of Mianyang-Suining-Ziyang-Neijiang High-Speed Railway

According to Sichuan Daily, construction work formally breaks ground on the Suining-Neijiang section of the Mianyang-Suining-Ziyang-Neijiang high-speed railway on 30 July, a pivotal transport scheme within the integrated rail network of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

The entire rail route receives investment and delivery from Sichuan Shudao Railway Investment Group. Running between Mianyang Station and Neijiang North Station, its full main line stretches 244 kilometres, engineered for a maximum operating speed of 250 kilometres per hour, with an overall estimated investment hitting 53.735 billion yuan.

Two separate construction phases advance in parallel for the full route. The northern segment linking Mianyang and Suining covers a length of 136.2 kilometres, with building works launched back in 2024 and passenger services scheduled to commence in 2029. The newly started Suining-Neijiang span extends 107.8 kilometres. Progress on this southern stretch moves forward alongside the northern section under a coordinated delivery framework, with full operational opening targeted for 2030.

Upon full completion of the complete Mianyang-Suining-Ziyang-Neijiang railway, direct interchange connections will form with multiple major national high-speed arteries, including the Xi’an-Chengdu High-Speed Railway, Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway, Chengdu-Chongqing Central Line High-Speed Railway, alongside the Neijiang-Zigong-Luzhou section of the Mianyang-Luzhou High-Speed Railway.

This interconnected layout expands the reach of intercity rail infrastructure spanning the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. Transport links across central Sichuan will grow more fluid and interconnected once all cross-line interchange services enter regular operation. Transport planners allocate continuous engineering resources to ensure steady progress on all construction zones across the route, laying robust transport foundations for regional integrated development in south-west China.
