China’s total installed power capacity hits 4.04 billion kW by end-June, renewable expansion gathers pace

Information from the National Energy Administration shows China’s cumulative installed power generation capacity reached 4.04 billion kilowatts by the end of June, marking an annual rise of 10.8 per cent.

Solar power installations stand at 1.27 billion kilowatts, growing by 15.8 per cent year on year. Wind power capacity totals 680 million kilowatts, with an annual increase of 18.5 per cent. The data signals accelerated progress in the nation’s green and low-carbon energy transition.

Wind and solar assets form the primary source of new power capacity additions across the country. Ongoing construction of supporting transmission infrastructure and energy storage facilities enables renewable power to be delivered and absorbed efficiently. 

Steady expansion of clean power hardware strengthens the resilience of the domestic power system, supporting electricity supply for industrial operations and residential consumption.

Investment in renewable energy projects continues to move forward in various regions. Additional wind and solar schemes will lift the share of non-fossil power sources within the overall energy mix. Authorities keep advancing the construction of a diversified power supply framework to match shifting domestic energy demand patterns.
