China’s Bicycle Industry Achieves Steady Growth in 2025, with Booming Exports and Consumption

Key data on China’s bicycle industry in 2025 has been released at the 2026 China International Bicycle Exhibition on the 8th, showing that the industry maintained steady growth throughout the year, with remarkable progress in production, exports and consumption segments.

Xinhua News reports that the total output of China’s bicycle industry reached 110.8 million units in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 11.3%, achieving stable growth in annual production. The steady growth momentum reflects the strong vitality of China’s bicycle manufacturing industry and its solid foundation in the global market.

In terms of economic benefits, above-scale enterprises in the entire bicycle industry achieved a year-on-year increase of 9% in operating income in 2025, with profits rising significantly. This growth is driven by optimized product structure, improved production efficiency and the continuous expansion of market demand, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the industry.

People’s Network notes that China’s bicycle exports maintained steady growth in 2025, with 48.939 million units exported, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%. The export of bicycle parts performed more prominently, with an export value of 3.632 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 10.6%, highlighting the strong competitiveness of China’s bicycle parts manufacturing in the global industrial chain.

China Financial News reports that China accounts for more than 90% of the global electric two-wheeler production capacity, with highly mature industrial clusters. This industrial advantage has also driven the steady growth of bicycle and parts exports, especially in emerging markets such as the United States, Brazil and Russia.

The consumer market of bicycles in China is also showing a diversified development trend. In 2025, 101 bicycle events were held nationwide, a 23% increase compared with 2024, with the number of participants exceeding 1 million. The number of amateur cycling clubs exceeded 80,000, and the cycling equipment market expanded rapidly.

Shared bicycles, as an important supplement to urban transportation, recorded a daily average ride volume of 120 million times, effectively meeting the needs of urban commuting and short-distance travel. Categories such as folding bicycles and parent-child bicycles have accurately met the needs of family travel and leisure fitness, catering to consumers’ increasingly diversified lifestyles.

The implementation of the new national standard and the old-for-new policy for electric bicycles in 2025 has further promoted the upgrading of the industry. Statistics show that more than 12.5 million electric bicycles were replaced with new ones nationwide throughout the year, with the renewal volume increasing nine times compared with 2024, driving the consumption of compliant new vehicles.
