Major Construction Projects Advance Steadily in Hunan to Boost High-Quality Development

In the spring of the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, construction of the Southern Rongcheng Area on the east bank of the Xiangjiang River and the Xiangjiang Science City on the west bank is in full swing in Changsha, Hunan. Landmarks such as Changsha Olympic Sports Center, Muping Xiangjiang Grand Bridge and Xiangjiang Science City are rapidly transforming from blueprints into reality, injecting strong vitality into the high-quality development of the region.

Closely following Hunan’s strategy of "strengthening the province through science and technology" and the pulse of Changzhutan integration development, Hunan Construction Investment Group is fully exerting its efforts on a number of key projects. As the core engine of Changzhutan integration and the main venue for the 16th National Games, Changsha Olympic Sports Center undertakes the dual mission of building a strong sports province and promoting integration development. Its second bid section, with a total investment of about 1.403 billion yuan, has entered the construction stage of the above-ground concrete main structure.

People’s Daily Online reports that Muping Xiangjiang Grand Bridge, connecting the Olympic Sports New City and Xiangjiang Science City, is China’s first "double swallow" four-span continuous half-through steel truss arch flexible tied arch bridge, known as the transportation artery of Changzhutan integration. With a total length of 1.83 kilometers across the river section, it is constructed by Hunan Road and Bridge under Hunan Construction Investment Group, in conjunction with CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. At present, the main structure has been completed, and auxiliary projects such as topcoat painting are under construction.

On the west bank of the Xiangjiang River, Xiangjiang Science City is springing up. Xiangjiang Innovation Port, with a total construction area of 81,700 square meters, is built to be a national-level sci-tech enterprise incubator. Undertaken by Hunan Construction Investment Construction Engineering Group, it has entered the decoration stage and is expected to be delivered by the end of September this year. Xiangjiang Qihang Port, the first fully capped project among the five major buildings in Xiangjiang Science City, covers an area of about 103 mu and will become a high-level scientific research base. It is also constructed by the same group and is currently in the final stage of construction and equipment installation.

China News Service states that Hunan University Sci-Tech Port Campus is one of the first education projects under the national "double key" projects. Its second bid section, with a total construction area of about 287,600 square meters, will be delivered by the end of June to provide teaching, scientific research and living support for 10,000 teachers and students. The third bid section is also under construction, with decoration, outdoor pipe network construction in progress, and full acceptance expected to start in June.

In addition, as the first R&D industry project settled in Xiangjiang Science City, the first phase of Hunan Iron and Steel Group Technology Research Institute is constructed by Hunan Construction Investment Fifth Construction Co., Ltd. The basement main structure has been completed, and the main structure is expected to be capped in September.

Construction projects in Hunan are undergoing a gorgeous transformation from "construction" to "intelligent construction" and "green construction". Muping Xiangjiang Grand Bridge has pioneered a number of leading technologies nationwide, setting an example for intelligent construction 4.0. Xiangjiang Innovation Port adopts intelligent management platforms and construction robots to improve efficiency and precision, while Xiangjiang Qihang Port applies BIM technology for whole-process management.

Green and low-carbon concepts are fully integrated into the construction process. Xiangjiang Innovation Port adopts a double-layer breathing curtain wall for energy conservation and thermal insulation, and the proportion of green building materials used in Xiangjiang Qihang Port reaches 69.8%. Hunan Iron and Steel Group Technology Research Institute is equipped with a photovoltaic power supply system, which is expected to save 100,000 yuan in electricity annually and reduce carbon emissions by 57,000 tons.

Moving forward, Hunan Construction Investment Group will continue to focus on key project construction, deepen the integration of intelligent and green construction technologies, and further promote the high-quality development of Changzhutan integration and Hunan’s science and technology strong province strategy. More construction achievements will emerge to boost the steady progress of regional economic and social development.
