China Huadian Boosts Effective Investment in Q1 to Propel High-Quality Development
In the first quarter of 2026, China Huadian Corporation has focused on the primary task of high-quality development and actively expanded effective investment, making solid contributions to consolidating and extending the steady upward momentum of the economy. With the formulation and implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan as its key work in 2026, the corporation has proactively aligned itself with major national strategic arrangements.
Xinhua News Agency reports that China Huadian has balanced high-quality development with high-level security, focusing on ensuring power supply and promoting green and low-carbon transition to accelerate the construction of a new power system. Relevant units under the corporation have coordinated safety, quality and progress, optimized the construction schedule, rationally allocated various factor resources, and steadily advanced a series of major energy projects across the country.

Notably, the corporation is pushing forward the construction of large-scale “desert, gobi and desert” bases in Gansu, Inner Mongolia and Qinghai, accelerating the development and construction of large hydropower projects in the upper reaches of the Jinsha River and Tibet, and actively promoting the start-up of offshore wind power projects. These projects play a crucial role in optimizing the energy structure and ensuring national energy security.
In Chongqing, the No. 1 unit of the Tongnan Phase I 2×500,000-kilowatt gas power project has been officially put into operation. Xinhua News Agency notes that this unit is China’s first 550-megawatt F-class gas turbine unit, marking a new breakthrough in the application of large-capacity, high-efficiency clean energy equipment in China. Its operation effectively promotes the green and low-carbon transition of regional energy.
In the upper reaches of the Jinsha River, the Yebatan Hydropower Station is accelerating the installation and commissioning of units, with plans to be fully put into operation this year. In Yangjiang, Guangdong, the Sanshandao Phase 6 Offshore Wind Farm, the first large-scale project in China to apply 16,200-kilowatt units, is progressing steadily.
In Lianyungang, Jiangsu, three storage tanks of the Ganyu LNG Terminal project have successfully completed gas lifting, and the supporting terminal project has achieved three consecutive successes in file acceptance, quality inspection and completion acceptance, laying a solid foundation for the project’s early commissioning and operation.
Wang Yongqing, Director of China Huadian’s Project Construction Department, stated that major projects are currently entering a peak construction period. “We will take multiple measures to promote the high-quality construction of major projects, balance the expansion of effective investment with the prevention of investment risks, and ensure a good start for power development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period,” he said.
As an important pillar of China’s energy sector, China Huadian has long been committed to promoting green and low-carbon development. The steady advancement of these major projects in the first quarter not only injects strong impetus into the national economy but also provides solid support for building a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system.
