China’s First Mobile Multi-Functional Enhancement Platform "Zengchan No.1" Delivered

On April 18, by the Haixi Bay in Qingdao, Shandong Province, a steel giant sounded its whistle against the rising morning sun. China’s first mobile multi-functional enhancement platform — "Zengchan No.1" — was officially delivered and put into service, marking an important breakthrough in China’s offshore oilfield efficient development equipment field and injecting new momentum into solving the problem of offshore oilfield production enhancement.

China Ocean News reported that Bohai Oilfield, China’s largest crude oil production base, is continuously promoting the increase and stabilization of oil and gas resources. With the innovative concept of "mobile + modularization", "Zengchan No.1" can flexibly "commute" between different oilfields and customize production enhancement plans according to different facilities and reservoir characteristics, changing the previous situation of fixed platforms with single functions and inconvenient mobilization.

With an overall length of 62.4 meters, a width of 43.2 meters, a deck area of 1,400 square meters, a designed operating water depth of 5 to 40 meters and a total weight of more than 7,300 tons, "Zengchan No.1" is equivalent to a "mobile production enhancement factory" at sea. It can flexibly switch between multiple functions, from heavy oil thermal recovery and ultra-large fracturing to intelligent profile control and chemical acidification.

Its fracturing system can carry 10 large fracturing pumps, achieving a maximum fracturing displacement of 25,000 hydraulic horsepower, which significantly improves oil and gas recovery rate. The platform has introduced a customized AI large model to realize automatic preparation and precise injection of chemicals. Its modular drilling and completion support system can quickly install core equipment to provide efficient mud transportation services, greatly saving mobilization and demobilization time.

Construction of "Zengchan No.1" started in April 2025, facing multiple challenges of tight time, high precision and great difficulties. The project team worked together to tackle key problems, with 43 100-ton segments accurately joined, 3-millimeter precision control and digital twin technology empowering the whole process, successfully completing key nodes such as onshore construction and launching commissioning with high quality.

The delivery of "Zengchan No.1" is a vivid reflection of the in-depth integration of China’s marine engineering equipment manufacturing capacity and offshore oilfield development technology. After being put into use, the platform is expected to shorten the single well production enhancement cycle by 40% and reduce the comprehensive operation cost by 30%, effectively meeting the needs of efficient development and reserve increase of offshore oilfields.
