China’s Zhangxue Motorcycles Shines in WSBK, Driving Industry Upgrade
Recently, China’s motorcycle manufacturer Zhangxue Motorcycles has attracted continuous attention for its performance in the World Superbike Championship (WSBK). During the first and second races of the WorldSSP category at the WSBK Dutch round held from April 17 to 19, the Zhangxue Motorcycles team achieved 4th and 7th places respectively. Prior to this, the team won two consecutive race titles at the Portuguese round. To date, the team ranks 3rd in the WSBK Manufacturers’ Championship standings, with its on-track breakthroughs quickly translating into growing orders and increased brand attention.
In the past, China’s motorcycle industry had obvious advantages in large-scale manufacturing, supply chain supporting and overseas sales, but lagged behind established overseas manufacturers in high-performance products, international race performance and high-end brand recognition. Zhangxue Motorcycles’ outstanding performance in international events signals the breaking of this pattern — China’s motorcycle industry is accelerating from scale advantage to a “dual highland” of technology and brand.
A world-class race track is never a one-man show for motorcycle manufacturers. Engine, electronic control system, lightweight materials, braking system and other links are crucial to the team’s performance. Zhangxue Motorcycles’ consecutive victories in Portugal fully reflect the overall strength of China’s motorcycle industrial chain.

Liu Xin, Vice President of China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce, told Securities Daily that Zhangxue Motorcycles’ WSBK victories mark a new systematic breakthrough for Chinese motorcycle enterprises in top international events. “It is not a single highlight of one brand, but proves that China’s motorcycle industrial chain has the realistic foundation for upward breakthroughs in high-end fields,” he said.
Zhang Xue, founder of Zhangxue Motorcycles, told Securities Daily, “We buy all the world’s top products, disassemble and learn from them. But we do not copy — copying is meaningless. Our engineers must fully understand the ideas of the engineers who designed and manufactured these products; understanding them is equivalent to being taught by that team once.”
The brand’s on-track success has been quickly recognized by consumers. At the 139th China Import and Export Fair, Zhangxue Motorcycles’ booth was crowded with purchasers from all over the world. Huang Qin, Minister of Foreign Trade of Zhangxue Motorcycles, said, “It is reported that more than 5,000 merchants came directly for our brand, asking to be local agents and place orders, and we received thousands of orders.”
Zhao Tuanchang, manager of Zhangxue Motorcycles’ store in North Kunming, Yunnan Province, noted that more consumers have come to view, inquire about and test-ride motorcycles, with many praising their “attractive appearance and good performance” and affordable prices compared with established overseas brands.
Cui Yan, Deputy General Manager of Guolian Minsheng Securities Research Institute and Chief Automobile Analyst, told Securities Daily that the medium and large-displacement motorcycle market is still expanding, with domestic supply enriching and overseas market development intensifying. Zhang Yuying, Chief Machinery Analyst of Guohai Securities, said China’s motorcycle exports are in a high boom, with strong demand in Africa and Latin America.
Securities Daily provided interview materials and industry analysis for this report. China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce provided authoritative insights into the industry’s development. Zhangxue Motorcycles’ outstanding performance in WSBK not only showcases the progress of Chinese motorcycle manufacturing, but also paves the way for the industry’s transformation from “quantity-driven” to “quality and quantity dual improvement”.
