11th National Security Education Day Observed Across China with Diverse Activities

April 15 this year marks the 11th National Security Education Day, with the theme "Coordinating Development and Security to Escort the New Journey of the 15th Five-Year Plan". Over the past few days, various vivid and meaningful publicity and education activities have been held across China, covering grassroots frontlines, technological frontiers, campuses and popular science venues, aiming to embed the concept of national security into people’s hearts and build a solid people’s defense line for national security.

Technology serves as a strong barrier for national security. In Wanping City, Fengtai District of Beijing, a themed publicity activity was held, showcasing deep-sea technological equipment, special police security gear and drug safety popular science. The self-developed marine embodied robot "Hujing" (Killer Whale) made its debut with a 1:1 full-scale prototype. According to Xinhua News Agency, Wang Zhongxiang, Director of the Office of Beijing Shihang Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., introduced that the bionic robot is equipped with 8 vector thrusters for all-round mobility, capable of stable operation in 3 to 4-level sea conditions.

With a high-strength anti-corrosion shell suitable for the entire 0 to 10,000-meter sea area and the world’s first magnetic coupling propulsion technology, it can be applied in ship cleaning, deep-sea scientific research and other scenarios, providing solid technological support for building a maritime power. At another event in Mentougou District, Beijing, Du Lei, General Manager of Beijing Zhihui Yunce Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., stated that the company focuses on chip security testing, with self-developed equipment capable of comprehensively verifying chip security.

Grassroots security is the foundation of national security. At a speech contest in Chongqing, Zhong Jiali from Fuling District Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources shared real experiences of grain farmers, highlighting the importance of cultivated land, food and ecological security. Fuling District also launched a series of activities, including national security education in schools and visits to the 816 Project by "National Security Little Guards", to popularize the overall national security concept.

In Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, three experts delivered a lecture themed "Digital Defense in the AI Era", explaining approaches to safeguarding digital security in the intelligent age. Campuses have become key positions for national security education. Wang Hui, a teacher from Harbin Engineering University, introduced the school’s innovative "three-class linkage" model, integrating online cloud classes, professional classes and ideological and political classes to enhance students’ sense of responsibility.

Harbin Institute of Technology held a national security education carnival, attracting over 2,000 students to participate in fun challenges such as network attack and defense coding. In Nanjing’s Xianlin University Town, students operated radiation detectors under expert guidance, deepening their understanding of nuclear security. According to People’s Network, the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station has operated safely for 32 years, delivering over 330 billion kWh of electricity to Hong Kong.

China General Nuclear Power Group’s 28 in-service nuclear power units achieved "zero unplanned shutdowns" in 2025, and the group has held public open days for 13 consecutive years, making nuclear security a common cause for all. These diverse activities have woven a dense protection network for national security, uniting the whole nation’s strength to safeguard peace and stability.
