TCL Air Conditioning’s Smart Factory Opens in Guangzhou

GUANGZHOU, March 28 — The inauguration ceremony of TCL Air Conditioning’s Guangzhou Intelligent Manufacturing Base and the offline ceremony of 100 million air conditioners in five years was held in Nansha, Guangzhou, on March 28, under the theme "Jointly Embark on a New Journey, Innovate a New Situation", according to China Economic Net.

As the factory with the largest intelligent manufacturing capacity for air conditioners in a single base in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the newly commissioned base is expected to achieve an output value of 3 billion yuan in 2026 and exceed 10 billion yuan during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. Together with ecological chain enterprises, it is estimated to drive more than 10,000 jobs.

Leveraging the port advantages of the Greater Bay Area, the base will serve as a showcase for "Made in China" to go global, boosting the development of related industrial clusters such as precision manufacturing, electronic components and logistics and transportation in the region, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Yue Yang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Nansha District Committee and District Chief of Guangzhou, stated that Nansha will always act as a service provider and escort for enterprises, continuously optimize the business environment, refine policy measures, improve service efficiency, and fully support TCL Air Conditioning to grow stronger in Nansha.

With a total investment of nearly 2 billion yuan and covering an area of 303 mu, the base boasts 3 world-top fully flexible dark factories, 15 advanced laboratories, 10 intelligent production lines and a high proportion of collaborative industrial robots. Relying on ultra-high data computing power, multi-axis robot automation and a strong AI agent collaboration platform, it has an annual production capacity of 8 million air conditioners.

Inside the base, the world-leading supercomputing-driven production line operates efficiently at a rhythm of "one air conditioner offline every 7 seconds". Supported by an AI data supercomputing center with a computing power of 300 quadrillion operations per second, it can efficiently undertake global data collection from 17,000 IoT sensors in the factory and meet the real-time computing needs of more than 2,000 AI agents.

Du Juan, CEO of TCL Industrial, noted that the base has created a miracle of "securing land, commissioning production and completing statistics in the same year". Li Jiang, Chairman of China Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association, commented that the base has built the world’s first "digital intelligence + zero carbon" dual benchmark park in the air conditioning industry.

Currently, TCL Air Conditioning has an annual production capacity of over 38 million units, with products sold to more than 160 countries and regions. It ranks among the top two in exports and top three in global sales, becoming a leading player in the global air conditioning industry. Chen Shaolin, Senior Vice President of TCL Industrial and General Manager of TCL Air Conditioning Division, said the base will serve as a new engine to drive continuous value creation.
