Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Railway Network Expands to Drive Coordinated Development

The operational railway mileage in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH) region has exceeded 11,000 kilometers, representing an increase of about 40% compared with 2014. Among this total, the high-speed railway (HSR) mileage reaches 2,675 kilometers, covering all prefecture-level cities in the region and forming a 1.5 to 2-hour rapid transportation circle between major cities.

Key projects including the Beijing-Harbin HSR, Beijing-Tangshan Intercity Railway and Tianjin-Xingtai Intercity Railway have been successively completed and put into operation, accelerating the formation of the "BTH on Track" initiative and injecting strong momentum into the coordinated development of the region.

Since the implementation of the new train diagram on January 26 this year, China Railway Beijing Group Co., Ltd. has launched the BTH circular HSR trains for the first time, better meeting the commuting needs between Beijing, Tianjin and Xiong'an New Area. In the first month of operation, these trains served more than 45,000 passengers with an occupancy rate of over 95%, reflecting strong market demand and high passenger recognition.

With the opening of Beijing Tongzhou Station at the end of 2025, the pattern of the capital's "eight stations and two airports" comprehensive transportation hub took shape. During this year's Spring Festival travel rush, the number of passengers sent and received at Beijing's peak travel days hit a new high. Amid the bustling flow, core stations such as Beijing South Station and Beijing West Station remained in good order.

This achievement of "no obvious peak even at the busiest times" stems from the systematic planning and coordinated efforts of the eight major stations under China Railway Beijing Group Co., Ltd. Through scientific overall planning and peak-shifting measures, the company has increased the total regional transportation capacity while avoiding excessive passenger flow at a single station, creating a comfortable travel environment for passengers.

To better meet diverse travel needs, China Railway Beijing Group Co., Ltd. has dynamically implemented the "one diagram per day" mechanism, tapped into transportation capacity for popular ice and snow tourism routes, and launched the "Snow Gear Convenient Travel" service. Special renovations have also been carried out on EMU trains to meet the needs of skiers carrying snow gear.

Meanwhile, the "Starlight · Yan Zhao" panoramic sightseeing train and the "Tianjin Travel Time" tourist train have continued to operate. During the Spring Festival, stations including Beijing West Station and Beijing Tongzhou Station set up Spring Festival markets, creating a convenient consumption scenario where passengers can buy souvenirs on board and visit markets after getting off the train.

The continuous improvement of the railway network and the upgrading of service quality have not only enhanced the travel experience of residents in the BTH region but also further optimized the regional transportation layout, laying a solid foundation for the in-depth advancement of the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
