As the highest rating under civil aviation airfield standards, 4F-class status means the airport’s runways and supporting facilities are capable of safely handling the world’s largest long‑haul wide‑body aircraft. Following on‑site checks and collective review, the inspection panel confirmed that the airport’s infrastructure and inspection installations are complete, compliant with national standards, and meet all requirements for official opening.

Customs authorities at Hohhot will continue to develop smart passenger inspection systems at the air port. Supported by big data, internet of things and intelligent identification technologies, the procedures for inbound and outbound travellers will be streamlined to deliver a more efficient experience and enable contactless, hassle‑free clearance.

The formal opening of this air port strengthens regional connectivity and supports high‑quality opening up in northern China.
