Switzerland’s Entrepreneurship Boom Continues in February, with Double Growth in New Business Registrations
Switzerland’s entrepreneurship boom maintained strong momentum in February. According to statistics from the Help.ch information platform, 4,968 new companies were established in the country that month, with new business registrations achieving year-on-year and month-on-month growth, reflecting a sound entrepreneurial environment and market vitality.
Specific data shows that new business registrations in February rose by 3.2% year-on-year, marking the third consecutive month of growth following an 8.9% increase in December last year and a 3.4% rise in January this year. Month-on-month, registrations increased by 13% compared with January. Released on Friday, the figures are calculated based on official registration data from Switzerland’s commercial registry, ensuring high authority and accuracy.

In terms of business exits, the number of company closures in February decreased month-on-month, with the market clearance pace slowing. Data indicates 2,808 businesses closed down that month, down from 3,031 in January. However, closures were still 1.4% higher year-on-year, a significant narrowing from January’s 13.2% year-on-year increase, suggesting eased market operating pressure.
Additionally, Help.ch recorded 18,975 business-related changes in February, a 6% decrease year-on-year. The decline in changes partly reflects stabilised business operations and a steady overall market performance in Switzerland.
Boasting political stability, a mature financial system and sound intellectual property protection, Switzerland has long been a favoured destination for global entrepreneurs, with significant agglomeration effects of innovative enterprises in fields such as R&D, precision manufacturing and financial services.
The continued growth in new registrations in February further confirms the appeal of its entrepreneurial environment, while the month-on-month drop in closures and year-on-year fall in changes inject positive signals for the sustained and healthy development of Switzerland’s entrepreneurial market.
