US Cheniere Energy’s 2025 Net Profit Surges 64% with Strong LNG Export Performance

Reporting from our correspondent — On Thursday, Cheniere Energy (NYSE: LNG), the largest US liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter, released its 2025 financial results. The company achieved a sharp increase in net profit, with both LNG production and export volumes hitting all-time highs, driven by strong international market demand and supportive US domestic policies.

Earnings figures show Cheniere’s 2025 net profit reached $5.33 billion, a 64% year-on-year increase from 2024. Revenue rose 27% year-on-year to $19.976 billion. Meanwhile, the company’s adjusted EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) grew 13% to $6.943 billion, mainly supported by a 4% year-on-year rise in both LNG production and export volumes, with capacity release and expanded exports as the core drivers of profit growth.

Cheniere stated its 2025 LNG production hit a record high, with 670 cargoes exported throughout the year. Notably, just days before the earnings release, the company celebrated the 10th anniversary of its first LNG shipment — on 24 February 2016, Cheniere exported the first US LNG cargo. To date, it has exported over 4,610 LNG cargoes, cementing its position as a core player in US LNG exports.

Alongside its 2025 results, Cheniere issued its 2026 financial forecast, expecting adjusted EBITDA between $6.75 billion and $7.25 billion, with distributable cash flow projected at $4.35 billion to $4.85 billion. Jack Fusco, Cheniere’s President and CEO, said the forecast "reflects our previously announced LNG production projections and includes our expectation to complete the remaining three production trains in Phase 3 of Corpus Christi this year," which will further boost the company’s capacity.

As the US’s largest LNG exporter, Cheniere’s strong performance stems from multiple favorable factors. The US is currently the world’s largest LNG exporter, and its LNG exporters and related facility developers benefit from robust international LNG demand and a major shift in US domestic energy policies — during President Donald Trump’s administration, a series of policies supporting US oil and gas project development and exports were introduced, providing strong backing for the industry.

In terms of the international demand landscape, growing European demand has become a key driver of US LNG exports. The EU has officially adopted regulations to phase out Russian gas by 2027, with the LNG ban taking effect in early 2027 and the pipeline gas ban in autumn 2027. Against this backdrop, Europe is increasingly relying on US LNG to fill its energy gap.

Data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) shows that before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Asia was the largest destination for US LNG exports, accounting for an average of 46% of US LNG exports between 2017 and 2021. Since 2022, US LNG exports to Europe have surged — Europe received 69% of all US LNG exports in 2022, up from just 34% in 2021. From January to November 2025, Europe accounted for 68% of US-origin LNG exports, remaining the top market for US LNG.

Industry analysts note that with sustained global LNG demand and the gradual commissioning of new US LNG export capacity, Cheniere, as an industry leader, is well-positioned to benefit from industry growth. Its 2026 capacity expansion plan will further strengthen its market position, while Europe’s adjusted energy import structure will continue to support US LNG exports and optimize the global LNG trade pattern.
